The Whole Truth
Marcus Bell is Guilty
Full story:
Marcus Bell, portrays himself as a property tycoon. In actual fact he is a hardened criminal and has amassed his fortune through crime; the importation and sales of illegal drugs into the UK and other European countries, employing men to sell and distribute said drugs, people trafficking (particularly young women) fraud and deception. Marcus Bell is feared and his reputation precedes him.
Marcus had seen his illegal business income hampered by young and upcoming local criminals encroaching on “his patch”. He saw this as an affront, he had reigned long and hard and was not ready to retire.
Marcus took Orville Richards (O-man) under his wing from the age of nine. Marcus became his saviour, father figure and mentor. He fed and clothed him and his family and made sure they wanted for nothing. All the while grooming O-man and his friends to do the dirty work, the street work. Delivering and collecting cash, guns and drugs, assassinations, driving, any job that carried tremendous risk was Orville's responsibility.
O-man grew to see that Marcus had taken advantage of him and his friends. Some of them were doing time and O-man began to resent Marcus and eventually they parted ways. O-man gathered his friends and associates and they came to be known as "The Real".
Marcus was angry when O-man wanted to stand on his own two feet, he felt that he owned him, his friends and the streets they grew up on and he wanted to prove to O-man that he would not and could not survive without his guidance.
O-man did very well as his own boss, his friends respected him as they saw that O-man would never direct them to do something that he would not do himself. O-man won over many of Marcus's men too, just by working as a conglomerate rather than a dictatorship. O-man began to divide loyalties but still believed that he and Marcus could work in the same city side by side.
Marcus felt aggrieved, jealous that some of his men were taking sides and dividing his organisation.
Marcus arranged a meet up with O-man and his associates at the community centre. O-man tried to negotiate but Marcus rejected all reasonable compromise. It was his way or nothing he was not ready or open to change, he wanted things to remain the same. This was his empire, his men, his business, his money, his power. Negotiation was out of the question.
Marcus eventually threatened O-man and his comrades to stop immediately or he would put an end to their business once and for all. O-man felt that Marcus's threats were empty and he and his associates continued on as if nothing had changed.
This left Marcus in a position where he felt he had to win back his power and remove O-man and his men from the scene completely. He planned their downfall.
Desrae, Marcus's daughter unbeknown to him had been dating Orville's younger brother Arlo and due to the feud between the two both Arlo and Desrae decided that they should keep their relationship under wraps only confiding in close friends until things calmed down.
O-man invited Marcus to the opening of the Core community centre, hoping to heal and mend their connection. O-man's ultimate dream was that together they could, turn things around in the area, working side by side to become fully legit but Marcus wanted to remain the man in charge and when he receives the invite he plots O-man's demise.
Marcus and his closest allies arrive at the venue fully armed and wait until the centre is quite full. They surrounded the building, forcing the doormen inside, padlocking the doors and sealing the windows, cutting off every single exit and released poisonous gas into the venue through the vents.
Marcus's intention was to wipe the crew out and any other party goers that just so happened to be in attendance. "Get rid of them all in one fell swoop".
This would ensure that not a trace of ‘The Real’ would be left and he could continue with his business without interruption. This would also put a clear and loud signal out to other crews to keep away from his patch.
On the night of the party Desrae and her friends are in attendance.
Every single person, one hundred and twenty seven in total died.
